COLLEAGUES will embark on a fundraising bike ride to help a little girl with cerebral palsy realise her dream of getting her own bike with special adaptations.

Staff at 121 Workwear, a personalised workwear company based near Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire, are on a mission to raise £1,500 to pay for a bespoke bicycle for their production operative’s disabled daughter.

Julie Cussons has been looking to purchase a bike that allows Lillian, five, to cycle freely like any other child without her disability affecting her ability.

The company has committed to £750 and the staff are all pulling together to raise the remaining funds with two events, a quiz night at the Black Horse Pub, Kirby Fleetham, and a 30 mile charity bike ride from Tan hill to Kirby Fleetham.

Lillian is a fun, loving girl who from the age of six month started having seizure-like episodes and now at the age of five, after years of tests and visits to the hospital, Lillian has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and tests are still being carried out for further investigation.

The four hour bike ride will be attended by the entire 121Workwear team along with suppliers and customers, anyone who would like to join us is welcome.

Business founder AJ Swinbank said: “The business is all about giving back to loyal dedicated people where we can and it is very important that where possible we can support the team & their families that supports the business on a daily basis.”

Julie Cussons, who has been part of the business since the first days of trade, has been overwhelmed by the support.

She said: "The team here at 121workwear have blown me away with their support for my family and it brings me to tears thinking about the sacrifices my co-workers are making to a dream for my daughter into a reality.

"When Lillian got to try the bike for size to make sure it was right for her, we couldn't get her off it. She was over the moon with it and I can't wait for her to get one of her own."

All donations over the purchase price of the bespoke bike will be donated to Macmillan.
