THIRSK market traders decorated their stalls and donned their Christmas jumpers to enhance the Christmas spirits at last week’s festive market.
The regular Saturday market was joined by six extra stalls selling local crafts and alcoholic gifts whilst Thirsk Royal British Legion Band provided live music to help create the festive atmosphere.
The winner of the best dress stall was Hadfield Pets closely followed by Pinfold Pies and Ben Smith and Alan Blundel from Michaels Clothing won the best Christmas jumpers with Phil and Natalie Ibbitson from Hatfield Pets awarded second place.
The festive market was part of Hambleton District Council’s Vibrant Market Towns initiative which is focuses on developing projects that enhance the vibrancy of the district’s traditional market towns.
The initiative considers the importance of increasing both footfall and dwell time within the towns by people who live in the district and visitors.
This week’s Northallerton Market on Saturday, December 1, will also have the market traders vying for best dressed stall.
