A VILLAGE hall which has been completely transformed following a major refurbishment has been decorated with poppies ahead of a Remembrance lunch.
Work on the Catterick Village hall is almost complete after a massive make-over.
This included the installation of a new kitchen, roof, floor, windows, and a lift, costing around £150,000.
Margaret Tickner, from the Friends of Booth Memorial Hall Group, said about 600 poppies have been knitted ahead of Remembrance Day, and the hall was decorated last week with the creations ahead of a special Remembrance lunch on November 7.
She said: “We hold monthly lunches, often with a special theme, and we are planning our November one as a Remembrance special.
“We are more or less into the final phase of work on the hall.”
The renovation project has been wholeheartedly supported by the local community who helped raise more that £60,000 over the last four years.
Tomorrow’s lunch will feature a menu inspired by food available during the Second World War.
