LIBRARIES are celebrating children’s book illustration, comic and digital art as part of a regional festival.
The Reading Pictures: Seeing Stories festival will give youngsters an opportunity to meet and learn from book illustrators and artists to explore the connection between literacy and the visual arts.
Libraries across the county will be holding workshops and activity sessions throughout the month as part of the festival.
Illustrator Jay Stelling is running children’s art workshops at Thirsk and Harrogate libraries today.
At Northallerton library, children will be able to try their hand at cartooning with Wendi New on November 10, or digital storytelling with Pete Gough on November 24.
In Ripon, the Squigglers children’s art group will hold special sessions after school on November 5, 12 and 19 November to create artist’s books, comics and magazines.
