COUNCIL cash has boosted North Yorkshire Youth’s Carlton Lodge Activity Centre’s refurbishment and renewal plans.

The grants from Hambleton District Council’s Making a Difference fund have enabled the centre to replace some of its mattresses, duvets and pillows, worn from the effects of its 4,500 annual customers.

The grants have also helped to keep the centre’s fleet of canoes and kayaks safe by replacing a few that were no longer fit for purpose. The charity has contributed 25 per cent of the total cost which has been supported by a grant from The Yorkshire Lasses Cycling Club, who hold an annual ladies-only cycle from Carlton Lodge.

Chief executive David Sharp said: “Replacing these everyday items is important for our young visitors’ welfare.”
