A FREEMASONS lodge has chosen a cancer centre being built at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton as one of its chosen charities for next year.

Lennox Lodge in Richmond, one of the oldest Freemasons Lodges in England, which was established in 1763, has pledge to help raise funds towards the £500,000 fundraising appeal to support The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre.

It hopes to raise thousands of pounds from fundraising activities through member activities and events open to the public.

Harry Elliott, Worshipful Master and his partner Vicki Hunt decided to choose the local appeal after both losing close family members.

He said: “We are thrilled to be supporting a local appeal through our Lodge, something that will make a huge difference to people with cancer across the Richmondshire and Hambleton area”

This new state-of-the-art cancer care and support centre is costing around £10 million and building work is on track to be completed in October 2018. For more information visit www.macmillan.org.uk/northallertonbuild
