A DALES artist has donated her original painting of an iconic historic station to mark a decade of community use.

Sue Dewhurst has handed over her painting of The Station, in Richmond, plus the rights to 100 signed limited edition prints, in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the restoration and transformation of the building which is now a thriving cinema and art and community centre.

The painting and prints are being raffled to raise money for the centre. Ms Dewhurst said:"I felt compelled to do something as an artist to mark The Station's tenth birthday. The renovation was completed as I moved to the area and I had heard many things about it from my late father, who completed his National Service in Catterick and often spoke of his train journey.

In the early days I was on the art panel, helping to select artists and hanging exhibitions. I had my first solo exhibition here and feel I have 'grown up' as an artist within its walls."

Sue is also the stations shop Co-ordinator. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased at The Station, ready to be drawn on the tenth birthday of the buildings transformation on November 9. 2017. For information go to www.suedewhurst.co.uk.
