YOUNGSTERS from two schools have joined forces to produce a piece of art which depicts their connection to the church.
When headteacher of Crakehall and Spennithorne Schools, Lindsay Evans, asked children in Years 5 and 6 to work together and come up some artwork that could grace the outside of the school she was amazed at the result.
Given the theme of three saints with local connections – St George, St Patrick and St Michael – the young people produced six stained glass-effect chalk drawings, which Mrs Evans had professionally finished by North Yorkshire Council.
They have now been placed outside of the two schools.
One of the artists Evie Harrington said: “The pictures are our own interpretation of the saints and we are really pleased with them.”
Mrs Evans said: “I do like the pictures and given our strong links with the church I thought that they should be displayed where they can be seen.”
