WORK is underway to build 20 new homes in Richmond.
Mulberry Homes Yorkshire is building the properties – consisting of 12 homes and eight apartments - on the site of a former care home in Reeth Road.
Several of the homes in Richmond have already been sold off plan.
When completed in January next year, the homes will overlook the historic Temple Grounds and have views across Richmond.
Andrew Garrens, head of development at Mulberry Homes Yorkshire, said: “In partnership with our local contractor Randall Orchard, we are delighted to have started work on these new homes.
“Given the location, overlooking the Temple Grounds, we had to be meticulous when it came to the planning of the homes but we believe that when completed early next year, they will be very much in keeping with the area."
The scheme will be known as The Orchard because Mulberry will be planting apple, pear and plum trees in a communal area.
