A FIRM that provides mobility equipment for the elderly and disabled has launched a Christmas gift drive after discovering that many elderly people will spend the festive season alone.
One Care Mobility, based in Northallerton, is appealing for Christmas presents for men and women who do not have anyone to share the Christmas period with.
Owner Daniel Hillerby said: “I go and visit quite a lot of the local care homes and discovered recently that there were many residents who didn’t have any family or friends.
“My wife and I thought it would be a nice idea to try and give enough gifts for all those who would otherwise go without so we are appealing for donated presents, either wrapped or unwrapped, and marked up if they are for a man or a woman.
“We just wanted to spread a bit of extra joy – and thought it would be a nice surprise for them on Christmas morning.”
Mr Hillerby intends to deliver gifts to Lascelles Court, The Orchards, and Kirk House in Northallerton, as well as Town Close in Stokesley.
Mr Hillerby is accepting gifts at his Northallerton store at One Care Mobility, Parkway House, East Road, Northallerton. For more information call 01609-781333.
