STUDENTS at Bedale High School were jumping for joy as their academic work paid big dividends.

The teenagers – and their parents - were delighted to find that many had achieved success beyond their dreams.

Excellent individual success saw 10 students achieving more than 100 A and A* grades between them.

They included Robyn Chilton who achieved 9 A*s and 2 As including English, mathematics, all three sciences, geography, French and history among others. Fellow student Philip Smith took 7 A*s and 4 As and Hannah Bowe achieved 8 A*s and As.

A spokesman said the results reflected the huge amount of work put in by students, parents and staff pushing forward outcomes for all at the school and they were committed to achieving even higher results.

Boys overall improved their top grades by 11 per cent, closing the gap which exists nationally with girls.

“Students at the school consistently achieve above the national average with triple scientists excelling,” said the spokesman.

“The staff and governors wish all of our students success in their future ventures in the knowledge that they are prepared for life-long learning in an ever changing world.”
