BUILDING society staff are doing their bit to help those struggling to meet their food bills.
Staff at Darlington Building Society’s Northallerton branch have shown support for Hambleton FoodShare by making a donation of £200 and gifts of food items.
The registered charity is dedicated to issuing emergency food parcels to individuals struggling with financial worries for a variety of reasons and relies on funding and donations from local businesses, churches and the community.
And the building society’s Northallerton team chose the charity to benefit from its community fund.
Customer service consultant Duncan Spence said: “After reading about the Hambleton FoodShare in the local media everybody agreed that it was a very worthwhile project and one we wanted to help.
“We have collected some food and donated £200 from our community fund which we hope will help the food bank continue the very important work it does with people who are in financial difficulties.”
Charity spokesman Margaret Brice said: “We rely very heavily on kind gestures and donations and we cannot thank the team at Darlington Building Society enough for their help.
“The donation will go a long way to helping the people who rely on us for support.”
