A TEENAGER with a dream of becoming a leading businesswoman is set to launch a hair, beauty and therapy salon.

Former Northallerton College pupil Emma Barber said she had overcome concerns about being too young to run the business after numerous customers booked appointments ahead of her opening the salon in a two-storey premises on Stockton Road, in South Kilvington, near Thirsk, on Monday.

The 18-year-old said A Little Luxury would offer all types of beauty treatments, alongside hairdressing and physiotherapy.

She said her friends, the majority of whom are studying, had been amazed by how she had worked to create the business and that she would eventually like to run several outlets.

Miss Barber said: "My parents are self-employed so I have always wanted to run my own business, and it's become a reality after an opportunity came up with a gorgeous premises.

"I wondered if it was realistic as I am only 18, but I have done everything myself, barring the help I've had from friends to clean the salon.

"We already have bookings until August and have had lots of interest."

Miss Barber said she would hold an open evening for potential customers on Sunday (April 12), from 6pm to 10pm, where numerous discounts would be available.
