A MOTHER and daughter have joined forces for a drama group’s anniversary production.

The Allerton Players is marking its 70th anniversary this year by staging a production of Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime, by Charlotte Cox, based on a short story by Oscar Wilde.

The group decided to stage the period comedy as it had proved one of its most popular productions. It was staged by the Northallerton-based group in 1980 and proved popular at Richmond drama festival that year.

A member of the original cast, Christine Trenholm, will appear in the production as Lady Windermere and her daughter, Genevieve West will play the part of Nellie the maid, the part Christine played in the original production.

The revival marks the end of a year of celebrations and activities which have marked the group’s anniversary, including the publication of a book telling the history of the society.

It will be performed on May 23, 24 and 25 at The Forum, Northallerton.

Tickets are £7 and £6 for concessions and can be obtained from Greensleeves in Northallerton or by ringing 01609-778649 or emailing; allertonplayers@hotmail.co.uk
