PAINTER and printmaker Bernard Cheese, a regular and keen visitor to the North York Moors has died aged 88. A keen draughtsman he sought out interesting architecture and people and often visited the Moors to paint fishermen’s cottages at Staithes and observe local communities and their way of life. He was renowned for his masterful watercolours and lithographs. Mr Cheese exhibited all over the world, carrying out commissioned work for major companies including Guinness, the BBC and P&O Cruises.
