DETECTIVES in Northallerton are appealing for help to find two men who assaulted a local man breaking his jaw.

The 25-year-old victim was approached from behind after he left the Sportsman pub, punched to the ground and assaulted.

The incident happened at 11.30pm on Saturday, February 2, but police have just released details.

The suspects headed towards Romanby Road after the incident.

They are both described as white, and around 18 to 20-years-old. One was wearing a blue tracksuit and the second man was wearing jeans.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Bevington, of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was an apparently wholly unprovoked attack, which left the victim needing treatment in hospital.

“If you can help to identify either of the two men involved in this nasty assault I urge you to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.”
