A CRASH between two cars closed the A1(M) at Chester-le-Street this morning.
The incident happened on the northbound carriageway, just after J63, at about 9.30am.
Two vehicles, a black Renault Megane and a silver VW Golf, were involved.
North East Ambulance Service attended to unconfirmed injuries, while the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service attended to reports of a possible fuel spillage.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Both lanes were closed for recovery, but are now open.”
