A FANCY dress fundraiser has been honoured for his charity work.
Stephen Roberts has raised more than £700 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by completing events including the Great North Run, Great South Run, Sheffield Half Marathon and Edinburgh Marathon dressed in costumes such as Mickey Mouse, Popeye and Robocop.
At a prize-giving ceremony in London, BHF bosses named Mr Roberts ‘Best Fancy Dress Fundraiser’.
The 42-year-old, from Sacriston, said: "I have taken part in a number of events for the BHF all in fancy dress to try and gain some great awareness for the charity.
"It was great to support such a worthwhile cause and I am so proud to have won this award."
BHF chief executive Peter Hollins said: "It gives me great pleasure to award Stephen with this award.
"Thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of people like him we can continue our lifesaving work. Without their outstanding support it would not be possible."
