A CHILDREN’S charity is running a course in basic counselling skills for adults who work with children and young people.
The Place2Be will run the foundation course for 15 Fridays starting on March 4 at Sacriston Sure Start Children's Centre, Fyndoune Community College, Sacriston, between 9am and 5pm.
The course will enable adults to communicate more effectively with children and young people and is ideal for parents and carers or school and community based staff.
The course is free thanks to funding from the Durham and Chester-le-Street Local Children’s Board and is for people working with children and young people in the area.
A free one day introductory workshop will be held at the centre on Friday February 11 A charity spokesman said: "These Place2Be courses will give people an understanding of basic counselling skills for working with children and promote the use of play and creativity as a means of communication.’’ To enrol e-mail train@theplace2be.org.uk or call 0207 923 5558.
