A PAIR of firefighters have been presented with a Chief Fire Officers Commendation and a Chief Superintendent’s Commendation for their brave actions supporting police during a violent attack.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service firefighters Alex Donnison and Jonothan Hodgson were off duty in Seaham, when they heard a woman’s screams.
The pair along with a police officer went to investigate where they found a woman clearly distressed who had been assaulted.
They also noticed a man who was acting in an aggressive manner armed with a large machete and chased him before helping detain the suspect.
