A DURHAM woman who swapped her job in a call centre for her dream engineering role is the face of a new advertising campaign.
Karin Massey stars in the Free Your Ambition campaign by The Open University and Sky Media, which calls on people to realise their career ambitions through education and flexible study.
The 40-year-old had been working in a call centre but wanted something more hands on and creative.
She started studying with The Open University in 2013 doing an NVQ and Undergraduate degree in engineering.
The knowledge and confidence she gained helped her secure a job installing Sky in customer’s homes as a home service engineer.
She still has six months left to finish her qualification and in total it will have taken seven years to complete.
Ms Massey's is one of three stories shared in the six-month campaign which includes a 30 second television advert and radio, cinema and digital channel marketing and which is expected to reach 75 per cent of the UK adult population.
