A NORTH-East church is hoping to promote harmony and comfort amid this month's election campaign.
St Margaret's Church, in Crossgate, Durham, will host a concert each Friday in November.
Rev Barnaby Huish, rector at the church, said: "All will be very welcome at these services and my hope is that while our national life is characterised by noisy disputes and angry division, these services will provide genuine hope and blessing through the age-old wisdom of scripture, the beauty and harmony of music and the blessings of divine contemplation."
The choir of St Cuthbert's Society will be singing the special service of Evensong and Benediction at 6.15pm each Friday, including a light-themed service to celebrate Lumiere on November 15.
Student Kate Sweet, who is choir president, said: "The Friday service is an excellent way for us to take a break from our studies. Singing at the church allows us to enjoy the beautiful acoustics while improving ties between the student and local communities."
