A SCHOOLBOY kickboxer has delivered ‘a masterclass’ in how to become a champion fighter, according to his coach.
Fearless Jake Fairless, 16, from Chester-le-Street, fought his way to the WRSA Title against former British Champion James Ramsey, from Scotland.
Jake, who trains with the North-East Kickboxing Academy, in Burnopfield, took the title on points won over five rounds.
He was part of a team of ten fighters from the club, which which travelled to Glasgow in an England v Scotland team event.
The club won overall with eight wins to two.
Jake’s coach, former World Champion, Wes Fagan, said: “I’m so proud of them of them all but Jake winning the title was the cherry on the cake.
“It was a mature masterclass performance.
“He really took the title from the champion and I would match him now against any 52kg kickboxer in the world.
“Jake has it all and is total natural talent.
“He is ready for anybody put in front of him.”
