A COLLEGE is celebrating after being shortlisted for a top award for getting the best from staff.

The Investors in People Awards recognise people and teams who make a difference every day, highlighting excellence in people management.

Durham Sixth Form Centre has been named as a global leader in how it supports people to do their best work and to go home feeling happier, healthier and stronger.

Headteacher Ellen Beveridge said: “Achieving Investors in People: Gold accreditation was absolutely amazing.

“Now being shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Gold Employer of the Year’ category in the Investors in People Awards 2019 is an even more fantastic achievement and something which has made us feel incredibly proud.

“Investors in People matters to all of us and that is why being selected as a finalist is so very special.”

Durham Sixth Form Centre was assessed for accreditation to the Investors in People standard in early March.

After a rigorous and thorough assessment, Durham Sixth Form Centre was awarded the prestigious Gold standard, which is only awarded to the top two per cent of organisations assessed.

Durham County Councillor Olwyn Gunn, cabinet member for children and young people’s services, said: “This is great news for the Durham Sixth Form Centre and a true reflection of all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, from the staff and from the students.”
