AN election is being held to find a new councillor for a north Durham village.

The by-election for Waldridge Parish Council takes place on Thursday, January 10.

It follows the resignation of councillor Geoff Cork.

Poll cards will not be issued to electors at the request of the parish council and voters should attend their normal polling station and give their name and address in order to receive a ballot paper.

There will be polling station at Waldridge Parish Rooms, in Poplar Street, at The Hermitage Academy Sixth Form Centre in Waldridge Lane and the mobile unit in Chillingham Drive, Deneside View.

  • The deadline to register to vote is Wednesday, December 19.
  • To vote by post, the application should be made by 5pm on Thursday, December 20 and applications for a proxy vote should be made by 5pm on Wednesday, January 2.
