A FLAUTIST completes the next step in her busking fundraising challenge in Durham next Saturday.

Nicola Mirams, 29, is busking in a different location across the country, raising money for charitable causes, until December.

Her twelfth busk is in the Market Place, between 11am and 12noon on October 13, fundraising for The Samaritans of Central Durham

Ms Miriams said: “I studied history at Durham University between 2007 and 2010, at Trevelyan College. Academically, and musically, they were some of the most treasured years of my life.

“I wanted to choose a cause that would help both Durham students and the wider community.

“Mental health is important for everyone: that is why I chose The Samaritans of Central Durham.”

The busking challenge started last December in Sidmouth, Devon.

Ms Mirams has now raised over £1,400 for the various charities she has supported and is hoping to reach the £1,500 mark in Durham.

She added: “I am asking people to look out for me and my ‘busking buddy’ in our purple tops in Durham on October 13.”
