A LITTLE boy with a serious heart condition has enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disney World, in Florida.

Eight-year-old Ethan Lloyd, from Consett, has a combination of complex congenital heart defects which has seen him undergo several palliative heart surgeries.

The Lanchester EP Primary School pupil was accompanied by his parents, Dean and Sam, and his ten-year-old brother Joshua earlier this month.

His mother, Sam Lloyd, said: “The highlight was Ethan meeting Woody, from Toy Story, as he loved him for so long.

“When he met him at Hollywood Studios, Ethan nearly cried. He hugged him so tight, for so long, we were going to leave him there.”

The dream holiday was funded and operated by Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families.

Mrs Lloyd said: “It was also fantastic for our eldest son Joshua, who had his birthday while we were there. It’s easy to forget how much siblings go through, so he got to have an amazing experience too.”
