A DURHAM pub is opening offering free meals to older people living alone.
The Kingslodge Inn, in Waddington Street, is providing lunch for isolated people
The free Christmas dinner is being served on Monday, December 19 and is open to anyone over the age of 55 who lives alone.
The Dean of Durham, Andrew Tremlett will also be attending the event.
The Kingslodge general manager Leanne Jeffrey said: “Loneliness in older people is always heart breaking, but none more so than at Christmas time, a time we associate with good times and togetherness. We welcome in many older customers with their friends and families, but we know not all older people are lucky enough to be surrounded by company at Christmas.
