A VOLUNTEERS group has renewed its call for people to provide items for an exhibition about the First World War.
Community Service Volunteers (CSV) plans to mark the centenary of the start of the conflict by holding a pop-up exhibition in the library in Station Road, Chester-le-Street, at the end of July.
CSV Retired and Senior Volunteers (RSVP) have been awarded a £9,700 grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to carry out the project.
The group is looking to gather and copy photographs, letters, keepsakes, medals and uniforms for a display that they hope will reflect the town's heritage and the human cost of war to local people.
The exhibition will be held from July 29 to 31 and will be made available online.
The group is also appealing for volunteers to come forward to record family stories and help people obtain family medal cards from the National Archives.
Anyone who has First World War artefacts that could feature in the exhibition, or who wants to share their family stories, volunteer for the project or trace medal cards, is urged to get in touch.
They should contact Angela Foster or Ashleigh Gibson on 0191 389 1155 or e-mail AFoster@csv.org.uk
