A SPONSORED walk raised more than £1,000 to support seriously ill children and their families.
More than 70 people took part in the Welly Walk for the Sick Children’s Trust at Dalton Park, in east Durham last month.
The 1.5km walk raised £1,030 for the charity, which runs Crawford House, offering accommodation for families of children spending time in hospital in Newcastle.
Caroline O’Doherty, campaign and appeal manager for the charity, said: "A great time was had by all, but more importantly, we raised a fantastic £1,030 which will go some way towards helping us support around 3,500 families in desperate need of a comfortable place to stay by their child’s bedside".
