PRIMARY school children brought Christmas cheer to shoppers this morning – helping to raise money for charity at the same time.
A group of about 30 pupils from Newker Street Primary School, Waldridge Road, Chester-le-Street, visited the town’s Wilkinson store, where they performed a selection of Christmas carols.
A collection was taken for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
Wilkinson assistant manager Bernie Wilkinson said: “The children were magnificent. Everyone enjoyed the morning.
“We donated stock to the school for Halloween and thought it would be nice to invite pupils to come and sing some Christmas carols.
“Each of the children was given a selection box as a thank you to them for coming along.”
