A CHARITY fashion show presented by women’s clothing store Bonmarche, in The Gates shopping centre, Durham City, on Wednesday (May 1) has been hailed a success. The event was held in aid of the Children’s Society.

RABBIT WEEK: Pets at Home, at the Arnison Centre, Pity Me, Durham, is holding a Rabbit Awareness Week from May 4 to 12. There will be free workshops on how to care for rabbits responsibly. ANNUAL MEETING: Alington House Community Association will hold its annual general meeting in Ritson Hall, at the community centre, 4 North Bailey, Durham, on Wednesday, May 29, at 7pm. There will be guest speakers from Fruitful Durham and Alington House Garden Project. Members and non-members are welcome to attend.

SLIMMING SUCCESS: Helen Thornber, of Durham, lost 3st 4lbs in a year with Durham Slimming World and was crowned the Tuesday morning Newton Hall group’s Greatest Loser 2013. Ms Thornber has now started Belmont slimming groups, meeting at Belmont Social Club, off Kirkstone Drive, Belmont, on Tuesdays at 5pm and 7pm.
