FORMER Sunderland and Hartlepool footballer Tommy Miller will be joining dozens of people in a sponsored walk in aid of charity next week.

The Peterlee and District Lions Club are holding their third annual sponsored fun walk, leaving from the Oak Public House, Oakerside, Peterlee, County Durham, at 10.30am on Sunday May 12 - with registration at 10am.

The three-mile walk through Castle Eden Dene will end with a presentation at the pub.

The first walk £1,500 raised for the Great North Air Ambulance and last year £1,750 was realised for the Hartlepool and District Hospice – which will benefit from this year’s walk.

As in the previous years, John Carver, Mark Venus and Titus Bramble have donated shirts from their respective clubs.

In addition this year, a shirt donated by Hartlepool United captain Peter Hartley, signed by him and team members.

A raffle will be held for these shirts and the proceeds will be donated together with the sponsorship raised.
