FASHION SHOW: A charity fashion show will take place at Durham Town Hall on Wednesday, May 8, at 6.30pm. Shops supporting the event include CC Viyella, BHS, Woven and Ava Rose Hamilton. Proceeds will go the Mayor’s Appeal of Councillor John Wilkinson, the Mayor of Durham, which is supporting Durham-based children’s charity Heel and Toe and Blind Life in Durham. Tickets, priced £6.50 including tea and coffee, are available from CC Viyella, 10/11 Silver Street, Durham.
WEDNESDAY WALK: Durham Ramblers will do an eight-mile walk through Stanhope Denes, in Weardale, County Durham, on Wednesday, May 8. Walkers should meet at the Grey Bull, in Stanhope, at 10.30am. For more information, call Roger Carpenter on 0191-386-4511 or 07503-646-233.
ENGLAND HONOURS: Jordan Lavery, of Coxhoe, County Durham, has been chosen to play for the English Colleges Football Association first team. The New College Durham student played his first match against Wales in March. He will join the squad for an international tournament in Italy next week (May 6).
