Durham Ramblers are staging a nine-mile walk following old railway routes in Alston and South Tynedale in the north Pennines, on Sunday (MAY 5).
All those interested in taking part should meet at the Alston Railway Station at 10.30am for the first stage of the journey to Lintley. Further information is available from Ivy Papps, on 0191-384 3164 or 07762-627028.
The ramblers’ next Wednesday walk is an eight-mile trek through Stanhope Denes, in Weardale, on May 8. It starts at the Grey Bull, in Stanhope, at 10.30am, with further details available from Roger Carpenter on 0191-386-4511, or 07503-646233.
SHOPPERS’ SERVICE: St Andrew’s Methodist Church, in Church Street, Coxhoe, near Durham, holds its latest monthly Shoppers’ Services on Saturday (MAY 4) from 10 to 10.30am. The guest speaker will be lay preacher Janet Barrett, from Spennymoor.
