COMMUNITY CLEAN: Groundwork North East and Burnopfield Community Partnership are holding a community clean-up Burnopfield Plantation tomorrow(Saturday, April 26). Litter pickers, gloves and bin bags will be provided. Those taking part in the family event will meet in the community centre car park at 9.45 am, to head into the woods at 10 am until 12 noon. WIND TURBINE: Plans have been unveiled for a wind turbine at Edder Acres Farm, Shotton Colliery. An application has been submitted to Durham County Council seeking permission to erect the turbine measuring 45.5m to blade tip, along with an associated track, kiosk and hardstanding. A decision is pending.

COMMUNITY SPACE: A planning application has been submitted by Durham County Council seeking permission to change the use of derelict land at the former Pygalls Coachwork Site in Crawlaw Road, Easington Colliery, to form a community space. Consideration is pending.

PACT MEETING: A Police and Community Together (Pact) meeting will be held in the Dawdon Community Centre, Queen Alexandra Road, Seaham, from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday, May 5. A representative of the neighbourhood policing team will be in attendance.

BROADCASTING EDUCATION: A group of students from East Durham College have been to learn first-hand about broadcast media directly from industry professionals. Creative Industries students visited BBC’s North-East base at Broadcasting House in Newcastle to learn about a number of different areas of the media. They were shown around the Look North TV studio and met presenter Colin Briggs.
