A SUPPORT group will hold an awareness day later this month (Tuesday, April 30).

The North Durham branch of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society is staging the event at Clayport library, on Millennium Place, Durham City, on Tuesday, April 30, from 10am to 3pm, to mark 60 years since the charity was founded. There will be information for MS sufferers on what the branch, formerly known as Durham and District, offers in practical, emotional and financial support.

A branch spokesman said: “We want to tell people with MS about the help available nationally and locally for both carers and sufferers to enjoy a better quality of life even with this incurable progressive neurological illness.

“We also hope to encourage people with or without MS to volunteer or help us raise money to fund or local work.”
