A HOSPICE is helping young adults and people from ethnic minorities find work.

St Cuthbert’s Hospice, in Durham City, is offering apprenticeships and work placements, working with the Job Centre and other organisations to help unemployed people rejoin the workforce.

Natalie Blake, 18, from Spennymoor, has joined the hospice as a healthcare apprentice.

She said: “My apprenticeship started last October and I have loved every second of it.

“I am developing the skills I need to fulfil my ambition to go to university to train to be a nurse.”

Robert Hall, 25, from Bishop Auckland, recently completed a work placement with the hospice’s finance team.

He said: “I enjoyed my time in work placement at St Cuthbert’s and it proved to be an invaluable experience for me.”
