MORE than a hundred school pupils have taken to a professional stage for a jazz musical.

Durham High School for Girls organised the production of Eli Yamin and Clifford Carlson’s Nora’s Ark and invited six primary schools to join in.

The young cast spent two days rehearsing before staging the show at the Gala Theatre, in Durham City, on Monday night (January 28).

Nora’s Ark is a modern re-telling of the Biblical story of Noah’s Ark featuring jazz music.

The schools involved were: Durham High School for Girls, Howletch Lane Primary, Ouston Junior, Finchale Primary, Bowburn Junior, Shincliffe CofE Primary and Acre Rigg Junior.

High School headmistress Lynne Renwick said: “Nora’s Ark is a marvellous opportunity for Durham High School for Girls to work in partnership with local primary schools and give young people the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre.”
