A CHARITY is seeking volunteers to campaign for people with dementia.

The Alzheimer’s Society is setting up a campaign and media group in the Durham area.

More than 6,000 people in the county live with dementia in County Durham but the number is set to rise by 36 per cent to 8,495 in 2021. Alzheimer's Society campaign and nedia groups campaign on a range of issues .

They include improving the quality of care in hospitals, care homes and at home.

Membership of the group is open to anyone with an interest in dementia.

Rob Stewart, Campaign and Media Officer for the Alzheimer's Society, said:“We are looking for enthusiastic people who are passionate about improving the lives of people living with dementia to join our group in County Durham.

“People with dementia and their carers often face inequality and injustice.

“By working together we can help ensure they have access to the quality information and support they need to live well with dementia.

“Local knowledge and expertise is vital to the success of campaigns."
