YOUNG people will be able to sign up for a proof of age card at a drop-in session taking place on Christmas Eve.

ID4U cards will be available at a drop-in session taking place at Consett Police station on December 24 from 10am to 1pm.

The cards, designed by Durham County Council in partnership with Durham Constabulary, are aimed at people aged 14 to 25 who wish to prove how old they are when buying age-restricted goods and services.

Anyone wishing to sign up for a card must bring along a valid passport, driving licence or PASS accredited card.

Alternatively they will need a ‘verifier’ who is aged over 25 and knows the applicant personally to complete part of the application form.

For more information or to download an application form, visit www.durham.gov.uk or call the council’s Safer Neighbourhood Unit on 0300-123-7070.
