A Christmas concert by the Caritas Ensemble, held at Crook Hall, in Durham, on Friday (December 7) raised £314, which will be split between Crook Hall, the Ensemble and Durham Action on Single Housing, a charity which supports homeless people. The Ensemble’s next concert will be in the Prior’s Hall, Durham Cathedral, on Sunday, March 3, in aid of Nepacs, a charity which works with prisoners and their families. COFFEE MORNING: Soroptimist International of Durham has raised £900 for President Alison Lacey’s chosen charities, Arthritis Research and Moving On, by holding a Christmas craft fair in Durham Town Hall on Saturday. The group would like to thank all who supported the event.
CAROL SERVICE: Quarrington Hill’s annual village carol service will be held in the community centre on Tuesday at 7.30pm. The service will feature singers from Christ the King Church. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available afterwards. All are welcome.
IPAD CONTEST: The Gates shopping centre, in Durham, is offering people the chance to win an Apple iPad. A free prize draw is being held in the complex. The competition post box is outside Wilkinson’s. The winner will be picked at random on Sunday, December 23.
