A CHURCH is holding a Christmas tree festival to launch its 150th anniversary celebrations.
The festival will be at St Cuthbert’s Church, on North Road, Durham, until Sunday (December 16).
A preview evening was held last night, with Durham County Council chairman Linda Marshall performing the official opening at the invitation of the rector, Rev Canon Robert Lawrance.
Businesses and other organisations have sponsored the trees.
The festival includes a Victorian fair on Saturday (December 15) from 1pm to 6pm.
The church was built in 1863 and the congregation will be celebrating its 150th anniversary throughout 2013.
