DARLINGTON continued their squad rebuilding last night when they swooped for four more players, including twins.

Amar Purewal and Arjun Purewal, formerly of Durham City, were two of the latest arrivals which all come from Northern League clubs.

As well as the Purewals, also moving to Darlington are Chris Emms from Billingham Synthonia and ex-West Auckland Town midfielder Marc Ellison.

Amar Purewal, a forward, scored 20 goals in 34 games last season in the Evo-Stik League while his brother, a centre-back, was an ever-present, playing in all 46 first team matches for the Citizens.

The brothers moved to Durham from Bishop Auckland in 2010 and a Durham spokesman last night said: “Once they had made a request to leave, the club did not want to stand in their way even though they were under contract, and an amicable settlement was reached.

“The club would like to thank the two players for their valued contribution and efforts both on and off the field and their exemplary behaviour and wishes them the very best at their new club.”

As part of the deal, Darlington will head to Durham for a pre-season friendly on August 4 (3pm).

Emms, a right-winger, joined Synthonia in January, scoring 11 goals in 18 appearances.

He has previously played for Billingham Town, Spennymoor Town and Blyth Spartans.

Ellison, a centre-midfielder, joins from Newcastle Benfield for whom he signed for in March after being sacked by Shildon for playing in a Sunday League Cup final.

He disobeyed orders from the manager and appeared for his Sunday side, Kelloe WMC, in a cup final the evening before the Railwaymen’s home game with Billingham Town.

Last night’s arrivals came three days after manager Gray signed his first six players, meaning the squad is beginning to take shape a month before the team begins pre-season training on July 7.
