AN open mic night that offers the chance for authors to preview their latest work is to be held at a community venue.
Darlington for Culture (DfC) has organised a series of open mic nights at Darlington Arts Centre, in Vane Terrace, with the next event on Monday, at 7pm.
Authors can take to the floor and read prose, poetry, screenwriting and theatre scripts on any theme.
DfC has been formed as a community benefit society, a form of co-operative, that is trying to save the Arts Centre from closure with a programme of new events.
Organiser John Dean, a DfC committee member, said: "The open mic nights are proving a success, with the audience growing each time we hold one.
"They have offered a showcase for many talented writers and also provided audiences with an enjoyable occasion."
Open mic nights for authors are held on the last Monday of every month.
Entry is £3 at the door.
