A YOUTH brass band concert helped to raise a fourfigure sum for a new service.
Darlington Youth Brass Band performed in Grange Road Baptist Church for Marie Curie Cancer Care Darlington.
The event, on December 2, raised £1,050.54. The money will go to the newly-established Darlington Rapid Response Service, which provides specialist nurses to respond to patients in the area to manage their care and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.
The project, established in partnership with St Teresa’s Hospice, ensures people can remain at home.
Isobel Wilkinson, chairwoman of the fundraising group, said: “The Darlington Youth Brass Band concert was a huge success – and better than ever this year.
“The service provides discharge support for patients from hospital or hospice, ensuring a speedy transfer to their home or care home with the support they need to remain in their preferred place of care.”
