ABOUT 100 litres of diesel was siphoned from a lorry while the driver slept.

Details of that crime, and others committed during July, were given to the West Villages Police and Communities Together (Pact) meeting.

PCSO Beccy Heseltine told the meeting that between July 7 and 11 a shed in Cypress Grove, on the Chestnuts estate, in Darlington, was burgled and a lawnmower stolen.

On July 9, lead flashing was stolen from a tractor shed roof at Carlberry Bank House, in Piercebridge. Then on July 14, 60 litres of fuel was siphoned from a heavy goods vehicle while the driver was asleep in Burtree Lane in the town.

On the same day, a garage was burgled in Cypress Grove and a mountain bike stolen.

The garage was open at the time of the theft while the owner washed his car.

A set of ladders were stolen from a garden in Heighington on July 25 and on July 29, and a man was arrested on the village sports field and given an £80 fine for possession of cannabis.

On the same date, also in Heighington, 100 litres of diesel was siphoned from a heavy goods vehicle, again while the driver was asleep and on July 30 sand was poured into the fuel tank of a combine harvester in Houghton Bank.

Anyone with information about any of the offences is asked to contact Darlington Police on 0345-60-60-365.

The next West Villages Pact meeting takes place today at Walworth Castle.
