Village nursery holding open day A VILLAGE nursery on a working farm is holding an open day tomorrow. High Bank Day Nursery, in Stapleton, near Darlington, opens to prospective parents from 10am to 7pm. The event will give people the chance to look around the nursery, and those who attend will be able to take part in, or watch, a free signing tots session and French class. No appointments are necessary, but they can be booked by contacting the nursery on 01325-365885.

MISSING RUG: Elizabeth Richards, also known as Pat, of Armstrong Court, off Brinkburn Road, is appealing for the person who stored her terracotta fireside rug while her flat was being decorated in March to return it. She said: "I went into hospital not long after and I was bent double with pain at the time and I can't remember who offered to store it for me." Mrs Richards can be contacted on 01325-251094.

TECHNOLOGY COURSE: A free two-day technology course will take place today, from 10am to noon, and 1pm to 4pm, in Crown Street library, Darlington. FIELD DAY: Hurworth Methodist Church holds its field day and fete on Saturday, June 18, at Hurworth School. The event will be opened at 2pm by Joy Venning. Admission is 50p for adults, 25p for concessions, and a family ticket is £1. All are welcome.

JAZZ NIGHT: The Rick Simpson Quartet will play at the Travellers Rest, Cockerton, next Thursday.

Entry is £6. Doors will open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start.
