THERE will be a temporary road closure in Bedford Street, Darlington, from the southern side of its junction with Victoria Road and Herbert Street back street, southwards to its end. The closure will be in place for about 27 weeks while Northumbrian Water installs a new sewer.

STOLEN BIKE:A motorcycle was stolen in the early hours of yesterday. The blue Yamaha 600cc bike was taken from a house in Bedford Street, Darlington, at about 3.50am. Two people are alleged to have been involved and one man is in custody. Anyone with information is asked to contact Darlington police on 0345-60-60-356.

CLUB WALK:Darlington Dales and Hills Young Ramblers' Group will hold a walk on Sunday, at Cauldron Snout, in Middleton-in Teesdale. The eight-mile walk starts at 11.15am, at Cow Green Reservoir car park. Walkers can also meet at Morton Park, Darlington, opposite McDonald's, at 10am.

SLOWER SPEED:Sockburn Lane, in Neasham, will have a temporary 20mph speed limit from today, for 18 months, from 300 metres south of its junction with Neasham Hill, southwards for 175 metres. The limit will be in place while Darlington Borough Council's design team carries out maintenance work.

POLICE MEETING:A police and communities together meeting for the Central ward, which includes Albert Hill, takes place on Wednesday, at 6.30pm, in Gurney Pease Primary School.

SKA TRIBUTES:Ska Beats, an eight-piece ska tribute band, will play at The Forum music centre, in Borough Road, Darlington, tonight.

Doors open at 8pm. Entry is £6.

BAND NIGHT:Bushwackers will play rock, blues and soul covers at Hogarths, in Darlington Market Place, tonight, from 8.30pm. Tickets cost £5 from the bar. Over-18s only.
