A MAN is planning to celebrate his 60th birthday by taking part in a coast-to-coast walk for charity.

Alex Taylor - who took part in the Great North Run to celebrate his 50th birthday - will walk from St Bees, in Cumbria, to Robin Hood's Bay, in North Yorkshire.

Mr Taylor will be joined by friends Jack Denham and George Bradley for the 190-mile walk. They will be raising money for Multiple Sclerosis sufferers.

Mr Taylor will take part in the walk from Sunday, August 27, until September 7, but will be back in his home town of Darlington in time to celebrate his actual birthday - September 14.

He said: "I am really looking forward to the walk and have been training hard. After I did the Great North Run I said I would do the coast-to-coast to celebrate my 60th."

Anyone who wants to sponsor the trio can call Mr Taylor on (01325) 282998 or e-mail www.justgiving.com/ alextaylorc2c
